Het landelijk huis, "La Atalaya de La Rosa del Taro", is gelegen in een bijzondere rustige streek op 13 km van de hoofdstad, in de binnenlanden van het eiland Fuerteventura, op de buitenweg die van Tesjuate naar Triquivijate gaat, in de gemeente van Puerto del Rosario. Omgeven door valleien en bergen en op 1 km van een moerasgebied kunnen vogels zoals de fulica atra , saxicola dacotiaea dacotiaea, upupa epops, in het nabijgelegen "ZEPA" gebied ( Gebied voor een speciale bescherming van vogels) geobserveerd worden.
De twee kleine woningen hebben een slaapcapaciteit voor 2 à 3 personen en beschikken over zonne- en windenergie en een waterzuiveringsinstallatie die het afvalwater voor de bevloeiing van de planten recycleerd. In het huis bevinden zich één slaapkamer, een keuken met zitkamer, een koelkast, een badkamer en een muziekinstallatie (cd, cassette en radio) en buiten is er een terras met een panoramisch uitzicht. In één van beide worden huisdieren toegelaten.
De huizen zijn gelegen in de binnenlanden van het eiland, afgezonderd van de toeristische centra, alhoewel goed toegankelijk; het dichtsbijzijnde strand ligt op nauwelijks tien minuten met de auto.

The Atalaya de la Rosa del Taro extends over a ravine and two mountains. This is the landscape I try to decode each day in absence of concept, freeing the understanding, so the unknown will settle and clarify in a constant dialogue with the primeval landscape. It is precisely this condition the one I propose to come to. To choose a place, to follow the trace of its song, to go though it with your eyes, to rescue it from another context to find out its unmistakeable idiosyncrasy, the specific peculiarity of its light, the secret name of the things that inhabit it and remain.

Apart of the luminous impact, the place also reveals itself as the recipient of ancient nights. The silence as a musical value helps to hear other subtle music that reveals forgotten sounds, the rumbling of childhood summers, of a happy time past or future.
The mountain is as well a place for meditation, visionary search, enlighment and solitude. Each traveller has a destiny to fulfil and each traveller is different, but if you are looking for peace, calm and quiet, and relax that never ending internal dialogue that conforms each of us, I hope with my whole heart this is your place.
The Atalaya de La Rosa del Taro is located in a very quiet area in the interior of the island of Fuerteventura, 13 kilometres away from the capital, on the road from Tesjuate to Triquivijate, in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario. Surrounded by mountains and valleys, with names as musical as Rosa del Taro, La Atalaya, Jenejey, Goroy, Cercados Viejos, this is an ideal place for trekking and bicycle excursions.
One kilometre away you can find a little Wetland where you can watch birds such us the Coot (fulica atra), the Ruddy Shelduck (tadorna ferruginea), the Fuerteventura Stonechat (saxicola dacotiaea dacotiaea) and the Hoopoe (upupa epops) , and nearby a ZEPA zone (Special Area for the Protection of Birds, best place to see the Bustard Oubara – chlamydotis undulata).
We have two small houses, for 2 or three people each, that run on solar and wind power, and have an ecological water depurator to recycle residual water from the house to water the gardens. The houses have bedroom, living room-kitchen, fridge, bathroom, hi-fi (radio-cassette and CD player) and individual terrace with panoramic views. We accept pets only in one of the houses (Casa Taro II).
The houses are in the interior of the island, away from the tourist resorts but very well connected, the closest beach is 10 minutes away by car.

Who we are:
Nora, the youngest one of this family was born in 2005, she is the observer. Omar born in 2000, is active and curious. Cati has a degree in Pedagogy, Silverio is a craftsman specialised in Canarian Pottery and engraving and Goroy, our dog, is a typical Canarian dog. Together, we decided to restore part of the household to rent it and some of the rehabilitation has been done by ourselves. The buildings are at the bottom of the Taro Mountain. Botanically the area is classified as termófilo, and has been degraded by uncontrolled pasturing, so we try to preserve by erecting fences and planting new trees. In the area next to the house, we water the plants with recycled water from the depurator.
In my workshop you will be able to learn how traditional Canarian pottery is made, without a wheel, just by traditional Neolithic methods.
We have begun a project called “Imaginary Territory” organizing encounters such as Art and Nature with artist such as Iraida Cano, Juan Varela and Tonia Raquejo. And also a Canarian Potters Meeting, in which potters and ceramic artist from all the islands participate.
